After logging in, you can fully secure the account by adding your own recovery options and removing the old ones.
All optional. The account works fine as-is. Do this if you want full ownership.

Add Your Own Email

Go to Security Settings

Open account.live.com/proofs/manageYou may need to verify with 2FA (use zyger.net as usual)

Add Email

Click “Add a new way to sign in or verify”Select Add emailEnter YOUR personal email (Gmail, etc.)

Verify

Microsoft sends a code to your email. Check inbox, copy, paste back.
Now you have backup. You can recover the account via your own email.

Add New Alias (Optional)

Add a new email address you can log in with:
  1. Go to account.live.com/AddAssocId
  2. Click Add email
  3. Choose “Create a new @outlook.com” OR “Add existing email”
  4. Follow verification
You can set it as primary alias if you want to log in with it.

Remove Old Security Email (Optional)

Add your own email FIRST. Don’t remove all recovery options.
  1. Go to account.live.com/proofs/manage
  2. Find the Security Email (@domain.com)
  3. Click Remove

Regenerate 2FA (Optional)

Generate a new Secret Key that only you have:
This invalidates the old Secret Key. Only do this if you want to replace it.

Remove Old 2FA

Go to account.live.com/proofs/manageFind Authenticator app, click Remove

Add New 2FA

Click Add a new way to sign inChoose Use an appSave the new Secret Key somewhere safe

Done!

The account is now fully yours with your own recovery options. The old credentials no longer work.
